my mind is blown

So today I was going to try to post a couple times so I wouldn't end up writing a novel, but that obviously didn't work out. Today I made my mom proud and listened to my body, thus not going for a run. My calf is super stiff and I figured I need to be able to walk around Taiwan more than I need to go for a jog. Breafast was super good today! It's called Fan Tuan which translates to rice roll. Which explains it quite well. Outside was rice and the inside was filled with crispy dough, fried egg, pork bits, and salted turnip. Sounds kinda weird-really good. It was then followed up with some kind of peanut-brittle like candy. Candy for breakfast? What's not to love?!
Class was amazing. We learned about origin point therapy which I really think could benefit a lot of us over in the US. The great thing about it is that it has the potential to save lives and alleviate pain and has no risk of further injuring the patient. The principles behind origin point therapy is a little confusing but the practice is very simple. It basically treats symptoms (anything from feeling cold, to pain, to tumors) as important signals that something is wrong with our body and shouldn't be removed (surgically in the tumor's case or with an analgesic for pain). The treatment itself involves pressure on certain origin points. We got a little bit of hands on time today (we have another class tomorrow!) and it really works! This therapy can be used on anything from strokes and heart attacks to relieving pain, depression, and chronic illnesses. After that we had lunch. There was a HUGE plate of asparagus which made me really happy, but other than that there was just some iffy looking meats and stews that I nibbled at. Having my favorite veggie made my day though!
After lunch it was off to clinicals. I was assigned Judo today which was SO SO cool. I want to learn now! Judo is the martial art where they grab eachother's arms or clothes and flip them on to the mat. There weren't many injuries or treatment at the actual practice (we did some stretching and ultrasound before), but it was interesting to watch!
It started to rain as we walked back for dinner, which was a Korean noodle dish with tomatoes and pork which was really comforting and tasty. And now I'm back waiting to go to our second Tai Chi lesson. Hopefully I'll remember some of the routine so Megan and I won't get yelled at again ha.
