so this is what getting everything you want feels like

If someone had told me this time last year that not only would I have gotten in to exercise and sport science AND got accepted to the athletic training program AND going on a 3 week study abroad trip to Taiwan, I would probably look at you like you had grown an extra head. I didn't think I'd get into exercise science, let alone athletic training; when I did find out I got into athletic training I actually started hysterically crying, in public, on a bus. You could say I had never wanted anything so badly in my life. So yeah, I got into my majors..but how did Gabi does Taiwan come to be? Well first off very last minute. Between getting into athletic training and cutting a check, I think about two weeks had passed-pretty spontaneous for someone who is anything but. Anyhow, I was talking to one of my professors about the trip during class one day, since I was considering going NEXT May. He though I was talking about this May, and when told him this he looked at me like I was crazy and told me to just go "next month". Really, what else did I have to do? The kids I nanny for in Atlanta are in school until June, I wasn't planning on taking classes or staying in Athens. Why not?! So I brought it up to my parents, surprisingly they thought it was a great idea too. About a million emails, some forms, and a big check later-here I am! One big suitcase, two carry on bags, and a ticket to Taipei.
So the big question is..what are you going to be doing in Taiwan? wellll
The University of Georgia Athletic Training Education Program in association with the National Taiwan Sport University (NTSU) is offering a study abroad experience specifically designed for athletic training students. The program is available to undergraduate and graduate students in athletic training and will provide the student with classroom knowledge and clinical experiences. The academic program will focus on traditional Asian therapies to include acupressure massage, pain relief techniques, acupuncture, rehabilitation techniques and cranial therapy. The clinical program will provide athletic training observation and hands-on experience with Taiwan Athletic Trainers Society certified athletic trainers with NTSU intercollegiate teams and at physician offices.
pretty awesome huh?
And aside from course work and clinicals we're going to be doing some cultural activities like going to night markets, climbing to the top of Taipei 101, hiking and white water rafting in Toroko Gorge, snorkeling in Kenting Beach, riding a bullet train, and relaxing in hot springs. I'm so excited and ready to leave now!!!
